SUMMARY
***
I upgraded from 5.1.5 to 5.2.2. Since this upgrade, while working with Polygon, PolyLine, Rectangle, Eclipe and Line tools, the very useful Preview Line (enabled through Assistant Preview) does not show anymore. Only when I come back to the Brush Tool it's there again.

I downgraded to 5.1.5 to confirm it's still working there.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a Vanishing Point via Assistant Tool
2. Enable "Show Assistant Previews" in View menu
3. Select freehand brush tool to confirm it works.
4. Then select, for example, the Polygon tool to confrm it disappears.

OBSERVED RESULT

A missing assistant preview line

EXPECTED RESULT

A visible assistant preview line

Hm assistant previews were disabled on purpose because someone considered it a bug that they were shown for tools that don't support assistant snapping:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424027

But I agree that just because the tool can't snap to it does not mean the preview is useless, it still helps aligning stuff manually.
I remember there were some issues with it though, it didn't really update properly because most tools are really lazy with decoration updates.

Thanks for checking. I'm working extensively with Vector layers and removing this feature has been breaking my workflow. Indeed, I need to check the perspective with this guide when drawing polygon shapes.

Can we please revert this change, or at least enable it for Line, PolyLine and similar? I mean, I understand that we don't need it for Calligraphy so that's fine.

If I need to do anything to submit this as a feature request or something else that helps to bring this to the right attention, please let me know.

Thanks!

I will confirm the issue, but I'm not sure when we can start looking into it, since we're totally swamped (as you probably can tell given that it's now October...)

Tiar, when the Intel project is done, I'd like you to look into this, since you worked on this before.
