STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Add Analog clock widget to desktop
2. left click and select "Show alternatives"
3. select "Calendar"
4. left click and select "Show alternatives" again
5. select "Analog Clock"

OBSERVED RESULT
Analog clock turns to calendar just fine. When turned back to an analog clock, it leaves an empy widget box behind. Disappears after logout. Can repeat this process and add multiple empty widgets. Cannot interact with the empty widget boxes.

EXPECTED RESULT
Analog clock turns to calendar and back again, leaving no residual window.

Can reproduce. I suspect what's happening is that the "Show Background" setting is not being reset when the applet switches from one to another.
