Description qlum 2023-12-22 21:01:08 UTC
SUMMARY
On plasma 6 beta 2, when using a translucent or adaptive panel opacity on a screen that is in portrait mode, I get visual corruption on the panel and widgets.
See the attached screenshot for details.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have at least 1 screen in portrait mode
2. Possibly have at least 2 screens active (unsure)
3: have at least one panel on the screen in portrait mode
4: have some form of translucency enabled, be it adaptive or translucent

OBSERVED RESULT
Visual corruption on the panel and associated widget, such as but not limited to the application launcher.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Kernel: 6.7-rc5
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.91.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.247.0
Qt Version: 6.7.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I run a setup where 2 gpu's are active at the same time but tested it with only displays connected to one of them.
I have 4 displays active at the same time but also tested it with just 2.
This issue may have existed on plasma 5, I vaguely remember it there, but it does not seem to happen on the latest stable version

I can also reproduce this issue on a different system using intel integrated graphics.
My main system uses a 7900xt + the igp of my 7800x3d (amd)
Comment 2 Dennis 2023-12-27 15:22:41 UTC
I can't reproduce this with:
- one laptop with built-in screen of 3840x2160
- Dell TB16 docking connected to external screen 3840x2160
- panels on both screens.
- panel on external monitor with adaptive (and tried) translucent

Ignore my previous comment, I missed it's in portrait mode.

I can reproduce the issue somewhat, I see:
- very small task bar icons (see attachment). The launcher icon and system tray icons are the correct size.
- some corruption in the preview (see attachment)

My system:
- one laptop with built-in screen of 3840x2160
- Dell TB16 docking connected to external screen 3840x2160
- panel on external monitor with adaptive panel

Does not happen on neon-testing-20231219-0252.iso
Comment 8 Nate Graham 2024-01-11 17:37:40 UTC
FWIW Task Manager icons becoming too small is something else, not graphical corruption.
Comment 9 qlum 2024-01-13 13:13:32 UTC
Seems to be resolved on RC1 on my systems.
Comment 10 Nate Graham 2024-01-16 17:39:28 UTC
Great, thanks!
