STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. turn on computer
2. boot to sddm login screen
3. enter password and press enter

OBSERVED RESULT
Wayland- screen goes black, mouse cursor appears, return to login screen
X11- sddm locks up indefinitely

EXPECTED RESULT
Desktop loads normally

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:

Problem began after 12/20 updates

Hi, thank you for your bug report. We would need some more information to debug the problem. When your session fails to start, can you switch to the virtual ttys via Ctrl-Alt-F3? If so, could you provide the complete outputs of `journal -b`?

Could you also provide the Xorg logs at /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

What graphical processors are you using?

Did you mean journalctl -b?  It is almost 15,000 lines, and I am getting an error when I tried to include it in my reply- bugs.kde.org thinks that it is spam (not surprising).  Xorg.0.log is about 750 lines, as well.  I am going to add them both as attachments.  I am using an AMD Radeon Pro WX3200 series GPU.

By luck or design, today's updates fixed my problem!  Thank you!
