SUMMARY Behavior option to disable recent files is not functional. I've set it to do not remember multiple times and the setting gets reverted to keep files forever and the list gets repopulated. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Launch System-settings and navigate to workspaces > behavior > recently files 2. Attempt to disable 3. Test things out for a while/reboot/etc OBSERVED RESULT Recent Files begin populating despite having disabled it. The setting had reverted to keep files forever. EXPECTED RESULT Disabled file history. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.112.0 Qt Version: 5.15.11 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This setting is also borked in Manjaro as well where you can't even click apply on it.

I think https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=478397 is a different problem, and it's fixed. And I guess that fix doesn't solve this bug.
Where can you see those recentlyused files ? I am guessing at least in dolphin `recentlyused:/files` and in the file ~/kde Then let me ask: Are all applications concerned? I suspect KDE Apps will abide to the setting but not others apps (GTK).
"the file ~/kde", I meant` ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel`.
This might be a duplicate of 397487 except https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-desktop/-/commit/c641ae122fdf90e890e845aa1d8cb4ba8c42a8f2 has not been backported (yet).
I can't reproduce on Plasma 6.0. The apply button works fine right now on Manjaro. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 397487 ***
