SUMMARY
Posting this against kio-extras, but I'm not sure.....

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Browse to an smb share in Dolphin
2. Click to open an image in Gwenview, or a PDF in Okular

OBSERVED RESULT
Image / PDF fails to open.  
Gwenview reports "Communication with local password server failed"
Okular reports "Access Denied"

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Opening a text file with Kate works fine
Opening the PDF that failed in Okular works fine with Kate
Images & pdfs can be downloaded using smbclient

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition (freshly installed and updated)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.90.90
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.247.0
Qt Version: 6.6.1
Graphics Platform: Wayland
