Description Pedro Boschi 2023-12-14 17:31:23 UTC
SUMMARY
When browsing open applications within Alt+Tab (Alt kept pressed) and a pop-up notification is received the focused application at the moment becomes the "selected" one, however it is unresponsive and the desktop shows only the background wallpaper instead of the other applications. Alt+Tab does not work again, so I need to select another open application in the taskbar for things to "go back to normal".

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Hold left 'Alt' key
2. Tap 'Tab' key to cycle through the open applications
3. Wait for a notification to pop-up (from another app, such as new message received from Slack, neext music starts playing in Spotify, some browser notification, etc.)

OBSERVED RESULT
The focused application at the moment becomes the "selected" one, however it is unresponsive and the desktop shows only the background wallpaper instead of the other applications. Alt+Tab does not work again, until another open application is selected from the taskbar, then the unresponsive application also goes back to normal.

EXPECTED RESULT
Notification pop-up to be kept in the background, Alt+Tab browsing to not be disturbed and upon selecting an application, this one should just gain focus.

Cannot reproduce in Plasma 6 Wayland with a dual monitor setup like yours and a notification sent with `sleep 3 && notify-send foo bar` Are you able to reproduce the issue with a notification sent like that? If so, I feel fairly confident in saying that the issue is already fixed in Plasma 6. :)
Comment 2 Pedro Boschi 2023-12-18 14:06:50 UTC
I could not reproduce the error with the `sleep 3 && notify-send foo bar` approach, but I just experienced it again after receiving a notification from a Slack message arriving...
Comment 3 Nate Graham 2023-12-20 20:19:03 UTC
Does it always happen when a notification from any of the mentioned apps appears while the Alt+Tab window is open? Or only some of the time?

Example of the notification window

This is an example of a message window that causes the bug to happen. It shows an icon and also the "notification configuration" option next to the "close" icon, both of these not present on the notification generated by the `notify-send`
