Description ledo.kane 2023-12-12 20:57:07 UTC
SUMMARY
Due to wayland's performance issues, i prefer to boot to X11 instead, however, when compositor is "on" in an X11 session, mouse cursor flickers like a broken florescent lamp. It also become invisible sometimes until you move the mouse. It also momentarily glitches visually into some other shape, when you move the mouse over various items. When i turn off the compositor in KDE, the problem goes away. But of course, disabling the compositor brings screen tear.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Boot into an X11 session with the compositor on.

OBSERVED RESULT
Mouse cursor flickers, glitches (visually) and even becomes invisible.

EXPECTED RESULT
Mouse cursor should always be visible and solid even with the compositor on.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Latest Raspberry Pi OS (with KDE Plasma as desktop)

On Xorg, Xorg is responsible for drawing the cursor, KWin is not involved. Please report this to https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues
