screenshot of the culling view

In digikam 8.1.0, if two images (JPG+RAW) are in a group and have the same rating, in the setup I attach in the screenshot, there is inconsistent behavior:

- if I click the star on the first thumbnail to downgrade from 3 to 2, only the JPG (first image in the stack) is updated (this is a bug);

- if I press ctrl+2 to assign the rating via shortcut, both the JPG and RAW are updated correctly (this is the correct behavior).

It's reproducible with digiKam 8.2.0 released few days ago ?

Yes, tested on digiKam-8.2.0-x86-64.appimage as in my Kubuntu stable is not yet released.

This is not a bug. You can specify how grouped items are to be treated in the digiKam settings under Miscellaneous in Grouping for various actions. You can always specify questions, yes or no. In your case, set Metadata to Yes. There is an exception to No, which had to be made due to other issues with the metadata operations.

Hey Maik thanks for answer.
As you can see the settings are correct. In fact, this setting always works except when I am in the mode shown in the screenshot (preview).
Comment 6 Maik Qualmann 2023-12-12 09:29:57 UTC
Ok, yes confirmed, the preview thumbnail bar ignores the setting. Since we actually only consider the preview thumbnail bar to be "reading", it was probably not implemented here. I'll fix it.
