Thanks for the report.

Can you install the debug symbols also for Kate?

Smells a bit like the project plugin is trying to figure out a possible project in the remote folder....
Comment 4 Germano Massullo 2023-12-07 14:49:51 UTC
Hello, Kate debuginfos where already installed when I run gdb.
Comment 5 Kåre Särs 2023-12-10 20:07:55 UTC
I can see that you have the debug symbols for KTextEditor, but the line:
#5  0x00007f8a981892de in KateProjectPlugin::projectForDir(QDir, bool) () from /usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/ktexteditor/kateprojectplugin.so
does indicate that the ones for Kate and it's plugins might be missing something...

It looks for me like we hang in access, if that hangs, we hang.
Not sure why that happens for you, didn't have that so far, but not often using sshfs.
We have a lot of places we do at least such a stat in a sync way, don't think it is realistic that this if fixed.

I reported this lack of debuginfos to the Fedora Kate maintainer

Hi, I don't think we will fix that. We and the most libs we use rely on the fact that 'local' file operations don't stall to long. That this is not true for mounted remote filesystems in bad, but not really fixable with reasonable effort.
