Description Unknown 2002-09-13 16:02:22 UTC
Version: 1.4.2 (using KDE KDE 3.0.2)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

I set up a POP filter so that any instance
of the string "gabi" appears in the "From" line or the mail header. If the condition matches, the mail should be "deleted on the server" without any further user interaction. It does not work - messages appear in my in-box from "Gabi", "gabi891", etc. The same thing happens with an identical filter looking for "amazon" so that all messages from *@amazon.de (or amazon.fr or amazon.com etc). All the messages appear in the inbox as if they had not been parsed on the server.

The MAIL filter for size does appear to work though in that it displays a pop-up window asking me what to do. However, selecting the "delete" option does not seem to delete it on the server. If I query the same server immediately after from a different client, I get the same pop-up dialog or, if there are no filters, the mail is downloaded.

You also have to activate the filter here:
Network -> Receiving -> Modify -> Filter messages if they are greater...

This bug is the same as Bug 39413, which imo should NOT be closed: i.e. it is still very unapparent how this works..

Why the &^$&^%%^$#$# isn't this pointed out anywhere in the documentation or the pop filter dialog?!

And is there someway just to have it delete pop mail via filter without popping up a dilaog box all the time?

It *is* mentioned in the documentation, check the third sentence on this page:
