Description David 2023-12-06 19:12:35 UTC
Searching in the Application Launcher sometimes doesn't search actual applications. Especially not newly installed applications (maybe it's not indexing .desktop files correctly?)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install an application
2. Search in the application launcher for that application

OBSERVED RESULT
The application is not found, unless it's an exact match for the command. But it's clearly not using the .desktop file

EXPECTED RESULT
Applications, with their appropriate .desktop fields like the icon, to show up when fuzzy searching

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

KDE Plasma Version: 5.90.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.246.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Have you created these desktop files manually? If so, did you remember to run `kbuildsycoca6` afterwards?
Comment 4 David 2023-12-08 04:10:07 UTC
No I didn't create them. I just install the apps via pacman
Comment 5 Nate Graham 2023-12-11 21:18:26 UTC
Do you have the kde-inotify-survey package installed? If not, can you install it, reboot, install an app, and see if it shows a system notification telling you you're low on inotify watches or instances? If it does, that's the problem.
