SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** Upon a fresh install and subsequent update of KDE Neon 5.27, applets won't open where they're supposed to open by default (bottom left corner for application launcher, top of screen for KRunner, bottom right for system tray applets), but instead in the center or bottom-center of the screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install KDE Neon 5.27 2. Update the system 3. Open any applet OBSERVED RESULT Applets open in the center of the screen EXPECTED RESULT Applets open in the corner or very top of the screen, depending on which applet it is SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE neon 5.27 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.10 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.113.0 Qt Version: 5.15.11
ADDITIONAL NOTE: This occurs in the Wayland session and not the X11 session.
Created attachment 163955 [details] image Noticed same after installing Plasma 5.27.10/Frameworks 5.113.0 updates on a Neon Virtualbox VM. On second(?) time of opening the launcher menu/taskbar widget/krunner, also an entry on the task bar appears, saying "Plasma"/"krunner" etc.
Created attachment 163958 [details] Plasma 5.27.10 Wayland bug The bug only seems to occur on Wayland, since X11 seems to work normally. All menus activated from the panel appear as "Plasma Desktop Workspace" windows on the middle of the screen immediately above it. KRunner opens as a window with a generic Wayland icon.
Same here; on X11 tested => everything as usual.

How do we revert to 5.27.9?
I am experiencing this as well. KDE Neon, Plasma 5.27.10, Wayland, Nvidia 535.129.03
plasma framework needed a rebuild with the new kwayland build. This is now in our pre-release repo and will be deployed later today
Getting reports that this is fixed today.
