Which operating system did you use ? digiKam run as SNAP or FLATPAK package ? And no, we don't see this problem before with 8.1.0... Gilles Caulier
Q : which kind of database did you use exaclty ? sqlite, mysql, NAS ?

The digiKam configuration files and databases are not changed during uninstallation/installation. Are you perhaps using one of these tools to monitor and clean up installations? Maik

yes, i can be better. Also, i recommend to download DebugView from Microsoft and run in parallel than digiKam to capture debug trace at run time. See instructions here : https://www.digikam.org/contribute/ Gilles Caulier
