STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. open kmenuedit 2. change the icon or edit the "command-line arguments" field 3. save the change 4. restart kmenuedit 5. check the previously edited app OBSERVED RESULT the change was not saved EXPECTED RESULT any change is saved SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.90.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.246.0 Qt Version: 6.6.1 Graphics Platform: Wayland
I can confirm the same bug. Steps to reproduce, observed and expected results are the same as Patrick Silva has. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: OpenSUSE Tumbleweed 20240417 KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Graphics Platform: Wayland
I can't replicate this on current Neon. I tested it with a newly created menu entry, as well as two system ones. Steps I did to attempt replication: 1. Right-click on kickoff, Edit Applications. 2. "New Item", labeled 'test', pointing to /bin/true. Set an icon. 3. Edit the stock Kate menu entry, change the icon to Kate-symbolic 4. Edit the stock Okular menu entry to have a different command line argument (--version, which means the program will exit immediately). 5. Save, Close KMenuEdit. Verification: 1. Check Kickoff to see if the new icons are used for "test" and "Kate" 2. Check Kickoff to see if the command line argument is used for okular 3. Repeat 1 for kickerdash 4. check ~/.local/share/applications for the corresponding desktop files and whether they contain the changes. 5. Reopen KMenuEdit to see if the changes are still there. All verification steps concluded successfully - the icons and command line parameter were correctly set in all. So this is either fixed in the new version, or there is another condition that triggers it, not a general inability to save changes. If you still experience this issue in a current version of Plasma, please give detailed instructions on how to trigger it.
