Created attachment 163803 [details] No snap repository This is a fresh install of KDE Neon Unstable, updated to KDE Plasma 6.0 Beta 1. Snaps do not appear to be working in Discover. I confirmed that plasma-discover-backend-snap was installed, it was shipped by default as expected. The Snap source does not appear in the Settings, no do any snap packages appear in the search results. Snap packages can be installed from the CLI as expected. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install KDE Neon 2. Update 3. Open Discover and be sad SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Discover: 5.90.0 Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon 6.0 Beta 1 KDE Plasma Version: 5.90.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.245.0 Qt Version: 6.6.0 Kernel: 6.2.0-37-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland CPU: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor GPU: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT
Supposedly the snap backend has been fixed, see bug 470933. However, Discover does not find snap apps on my neon unstable.
it seems even in 6.0 final plasma-discover-backend-snap only provides these files: /usr/share/doc/plasma-discover-backend-snap/changelog.Debian.gz /usr/share/doc/plasma-discover-backend-snap/copyright So this seems to be a packaging issue
look at the filesize - since 6.0 files are missing [ ] plasma-discover-backend-snap_5.27.10-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build41_arm64.deb 2023-12-05 21:46 52K [ ] plasma-discover-backend-snap_5.27.10.1-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build42_amd64.deb 2024-01-26 10:18 53K [ ] plasma-discover-backend-snap_5.27.10.1-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build42_arm64.deb 2024-01-26 10:18 52K [ ] plasma-discover-backend-snap_6.0.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build45_amd64.deb 2024-02-23 11:10 6.7K [ ] plasma-discover-backend-snap_6.0.0-0xneon+22.04+jammy+release+build45_arm64.deb 2024-02-23 11:10 6.7K
I can confirm that snaps are not showing in Discover, even though plasma-discover-backend-snap and snapd are installed.
