when the file already exists Kmymoney sends the error message below. However, it works if you modify the file name a little (adding 1 letter or deleting 1). This is a "remote" recording on a Synology NAS

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. saved the file

EXPECTED RESULT this --->
Unable to open file '//nas-home/homes/xxxxxx/xxxxx/xxxxxxxxx/202-3.kmy' for writing. C:\_\9b0777e7\kmymoney\kmymoney\plugins\xml\xmlstorage.cpp:510

I think we have seen this before. Please map the location on the remote computer using a drive letter. That should solve the problem.
