Created attachment 163444 [details] File problem consistently reproducible with. SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Create a png file using flameshot. 2. Open this png file in Kirta 3. Crop the file and save it. OBSERVED RESULT The image is replaced with a checker board background (although the file itself still shows the image if the file is closed and reopened with Krita). EXPECTED RESULT The cropped image remains. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: N/A macOS: 14.1.1 Linux/KDE Plasma: N/A (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: N/A KDE Frameworks Version: N/A Qt Version: N/A ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This has occurred with all prior versions of Krita released over last couple years, so not confirmed a regression.
Hi, I can't reproduce this on my Linux build. Can you share the export options? Also, is the problem here that the thumbnail shows a checker board or is it other applications that are having the same problem (like for example: image viewer, web browser).

This occurs before any exporting. > Also, is the problem here that the thumbnail shows a checker board or is it > other applications that are having the same problem (like for example: image > viewer, web browser). This is only about how the image visually disappears after hitting Enter when done cropping. This has nothing to do with other applications, and no other applications have the same problem.
If it's fixed by unchecking Preferences->Display->Use texture buffer, it's a duplicate of bug 398689 (a macOS-only bug).

Hi Freya, Thanks for the suggestion! I unchecked the box and it wasn't reproducible. Hence, I'll mark this a duplicate for now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 398689 ***
