SUMMARY *** Attached are the 4 images of the Digikam 8.1.0 of where I installed Digikam in my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS OS (Digikam_Bug_0000001.png, Digikam_Bug_0000002.png, Digikam_Bug_0000003.png, Digikam_Bug_0000004.png). Also attached is the NEF file captured from my Nikon Z9 camera with latest firmware of 4.1 from Nikon USA (_DSC0126.NEF). The Digikam software was installed using the GUI interface that detects all the software installed and available software to install for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. I am using a Lenovo P620 workstation running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS which was upgraded from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. All Ubuntu 22.04 LTS updates are using only the Security updates and nothing else. I also have no customization of the Digikam 8.1.0 software installed. Digikam is very useful to me because it is better than the Nikon NX-D and have the same image reproduction of Capture One Version 20 which I use for my other Pextax K-1 II camera. I cannot use the Image Editor and adjust the image to my preferred adjustments. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Import the attached NEF file (_DSC0126.NEF). 2. Open the NEF file using the "Image Editor" button. 3. "Image Editor" will display the message "Cannot decode RAW image '_DSC0126.NEF'". I am using Adobe RGB color space for all my NEF files in case I need to have Adobe RGB in the future. Please see attached file "Digikam_Bug_0000005.png" image. 4. I am able to export the NEF file with no compression (100%) but I cannot use the "Image Editor" to make lighting, color adjustments to the NEF file. I only use a NEF file and not even have any in-camera JPEG file created. Also attached is that exported JPEG image (_DSC0126.jpg) OBSERVED RESULT 1. Please see attached image (Digikam_Bug_0000005.png) EXPECTED RESULT 1. Please see attached image (Digikam_Bug_0000006.png) which is the image for a Pextax K-1 which I downloaded from the Internet. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: N/A macOS: N/A Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 22.04LTS (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: N/A KDE Frameworks Version: N/A Qt Version: What ever was used by the Digikam Development Team to generate Digikam 8.1. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1. Please see images (Digikam_Bug_0000007.png and Digikam_Bug_0000008.png)
Created attachment 163430 [details] The Zipped files contain only the JPEG images I stated in the bug description but not including the NEF file. I could not attach the NEF file because it is 33.00MB and your website can only attach 4000KB or 4 MB. Kindly give me an e-mail or a physical address that I can send the attachment or CD containing the NEF file. It is the NEF file that you need to reproduce the problem. I can only attach the images captured but not the NEF File _DSC0126.NEF.
The digiKam version of Ubuntu is unusable. It is a snap package. Snap packages use a sandbox (only access to the home directory), and the digiKam version is incompletely compiled. The problem is known, use our AppImage. Make the AppImage file executable and start it. https://files.kde.org/digikam/ Maik

I tested an NEF of the Z9 under digiKam-8.2.0 Windows. No problems. Maik
