SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Search flathub.org for Spectacle because you're on a non-Plasma, immutable distro like Fedora Silverblue OBSERVED RESULT No results returned for Spectacle EXPECTED RESULT Results return showing Spectacle, allowing for Spectacle to be installed SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS - **OS Name:** Fedora Linux 39.20231119.0 (Silverblue) - **GNOME Version:** 45.1 - **Windowing System:** Wayland - **Kernel Version:** Linux 6.5.11-300.fc39.x86_64 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Spectacle is an amazing tool, and it would be great if immutable non-Plasma distros that install apps via Flatpaks could easily install it
I agree, this would be nice. Is there anything blocking the Flatpak version specifically? (I noticed there's a Snap version available, but I understand Snaps can be less restrictive in terms of what resources an app can access.)
I also support, I use all possible KDE applications in Flatpak, since I use an LTS distribution. The only thing missing is Spectacle and Kate. For example, in Spectacle from the repositories I have a bug that is not in new versions of Spectacle and I have no way out because it is not in Flatpak https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=469022
There is some work toward re-adding flatpak nightly builds for spectacle: https://invent.kde.org/graphics/spectacle/-/merge_requests/314 Unfortunately, the flatpak version can't actually take screenshots. If someone with flatpak expertise could help make the flatpak built from the linked MR usable, that would be helpful.
