Description randombloke 2023-11-18 15:04:34 UTC
Since the last update two days ago, in Wallpaper slideshow I'm not able to access my samba share anymore. This used to work flawlessly until now. Every other app or KDE service can access the share, just not the Wallpaper slideshow. Thank you

Same thing on desktop and laptop.

Is your samba share set up to auto-mount through /fstab, or accessed via Dolphin, or something else?

Just auto-mount through /fstab. Nothing else.

//ip/my_smbshare    /home/user/data   cifs    comment=systemd.automount,uid=1000,gid=1000,credentials=/home/user/.smb

So what exactly happens when you try to access that path, and how are you doing it, specifically?
Comment 4 randombloke 2023-12-01 19:56:53 UTC
In short: Nothing. :-)

I click

Wallpaper type: Slideshow
in the lower left: + Add Folder
choose my smb share: click (it opens the subfolders)
want to click a subfolder: not possible, no reaction

every other destination works fine, just not the smb share

So you click on a subfolder and the dialog freezes? Or no?

When you hover over a subfolder, does it visually highlight?

If you right-click on it and choose "Open Folder With > Dolphin", does that work?

> So you click on a subfolder and the dialog freezes? Or no?

>>No, it does not freeze. It just doesn't do anything.

> When you hover over a subfolder, does it visually highlight?

>> Yes it does.

> work?

>> I don't have this option.

Just to be clear. It works with every local directory and even my Nextcloud instance. Just the samba share refuses to react. I could do it manually by choosing the path in the "path-box" at the bottom of the box. Adding a forward-slash allows me to enter a new directory. I could work my way through to the destination directory. But that's probably not the idea.

Can you share a screenshot of the dialog when it's showing a samba share that can't be opened--preferably with the context menu open? or better yet: a screen recording!
