Black bar screen tear

SUMMARY
When "allow tearing" is enabled, a tear during fullscreen gameplay shows up as a big black bar, instead of 2 different frames being displayed by different parts of the screen. (see attachment)

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Display fullscreen game without V-sync
2. Let frame rate fall below monitors current refresh rate (set to 120Hz (it can do 144Hz) in my case)

OBSERVED RESULT
A black bar appears where I'd expect a "screen tear" (happens frequently, is annoying)

EXPECTED RESULT
The old frame is partially shown and the new frame is partially shown

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: 6.6.1
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.112.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This is a NVidia driver bug, and is not related to screen tearing. See https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/-/issues/1317 for more details
