SUMMARY Applications menu would not open at all at random times and after sometime it would open correctly again, there was similar issue on plasma 5.25 STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. The application menu sometimes doesn't open at all, this was a bug which was in plasma 5.25, now it seems to have returned in the alpha of plasma 6 OBSERVED RESULT the panel shows as if the application menu is open, but instead it has stayed that way with no application menu, if you click it then wait a bit it'll be able to open it again EXPECTED RESULT To always be able to open the application menu(as it worked on 5.27.x versions prior to plasma 6 alpha) NOTE: The plasma 6 alpha has been installed through the KDE-Unstable repo from Arch Linux SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: EndeavourOS KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.245.0 Qt Version: 6.6.0 Kernel Version: 6.6.1-x64v3-xanmod1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-Core Processor Memory: 31,3 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090/PCIe/SSE2
Hi, which Nvidia driver version do you use? If you run QSG_RENDER_LOOP=threader krunner --replace does krunner freeze if you type?

Hi, I'm running the latest stable driver | NVIDIA-SMI 545.29.02 Driver Version: 545.29.02 CUDA Version: 12.3 | No krunner works fine, only the applications menu sometimes doesn't open, I have also noticed a lot of bugs and some of the KDE Gear apps are missing from the Arch repo, not sure how that affects it: https://archlinux.org/packages/?sort=&repo=KDE-Unstable&q=&maintainer=&flagged=
Small update here, krunner also stopped working until I ran the command to replace it, maybe it is indeed connected somehow. QSG_RENDER_LOOP=threader krunner --replace

This still happens from time to time in Plasma 6 Beta 1, though it seems to have been slightly improved.
Per Bug 477762 Comment 16, this is an NVIDIA issue that's fixed upstream in Qt via https://codereview.qt-project.org/c/qt/qtwayland/+/503674. We also have an option to work around the issue via https://invent.kde.org/plasma/plasma-integration/-/merge_requests/119 in case that Qt patch isn't merged in time for the Plasma 6 launch.
