Created attachment 163112 [details] More informations in the file plasma-org;kde.plasma.descktop-appletsrc where are also several problems for years STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. from time to time after some "normal" boot (not at each) with the same previous screen configuration 2. always after boot with a new screen configuration (people don't have screen with the same display resolution) 3. always after boot if changes have be done in the configuration of the two screens (laptop and outside screen ) for instance who is operating : both, that of the laptop, etc Notice : Display resolution are always different between that of the laptop and the outside one OBSERVED RESULT -The initial position of the Desktop Icons are scrambled in a new position named by me Alpha and changes have be done in /user/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc -It is always the same Alpha position -At each "normal" boot we can see at the end , wen the Desktop screen appears during ~0,3 second the Alpha position and after the "normal" position EXPECTED RESULT -No changes in the previous position of the Desktop icons and that all items in /user/desktop appears at the screen SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Système d'exploitation : Mageia 9 Version de KDE Plasma : 5.27.5 Version de KDE Frameworks : 5.105.0 Version de Qt : 5.15.7 Version de noyau : 6.4.16-desktop-3.mga9 (64-bit) Plate-forme graphique : X11 Processeurs : 4 × Intel® Core™ i5-6440HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz Mémoire : 15,5 Gio de mémoire vive Processeur graphique : Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 530 Fabricant : Dell Inc. In order to temporarily resolve the scrambling problem I changed the rights of the file : nobody can write. bash-5.2$ ls -l /home/everybody/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc -r-------- 1 everybody everybody 22395 nov. 13 14:24 /home/everybody/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc Despite these changes during last boot Icons were scrambled and file .config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc was modified. Then, after Icons lock modification I put the icons in their original place , then relock the Icon position and see that .config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc has been modified again .

There are multiple bugs describing the same or similar behavior for icon positioning on the desktop not being saved. I'm using 468546 as the main one. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 468546 ***
