STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Place a sample AVIF file in the root album (or a sub-folder album -- but it takes longer to find it and crash)
(I used the sample located here: https://libre-software.net/wp-content/uploads/AVIF/AVIF%20test%20file%20-%20Your%20browser%20%28software%29%20supports%20AVIF%20%28Quality%2025%29.avif )
2. Start digikam
3. During the "Find new items" process digikam will simply close.

OBSERVED RESULT
Digikam just closes as soon as it finds the AVIF file

EXPECTED RESULT
Digikam should continue to run and just not show the AVIF file as an image if it is not supported, or display it properly if avif *is* supported.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Comment 1 Bryan Leaman 2023-11-13 00:12:38 UTC
I noticed this by accident in v7.9.0 and narrowed it down to the AVIF file I had recently downloaded. When I saw that I wasn't on the current version I upgraded to v8.1.0 and verified the bug still exists.

Sorry for the duplicate report. I think I only searched open bug reports and it was already closed.
