Description rsi.dev17 2023-11-08 00:27:51 UTC
SUMMARY
The "Logout" button's behavior in the plasma "kickoff" feels jerky and often tricks a user into thinking his desired action has already been taken, when in reality the system is waiting for a confirmation in the plasma "look and feel" applet.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kickoff by pressing the meta key or clicking on the plasma icon.
2. Click on "Shut Down" Option

OBSERVED RESULT
The "look and feel" applet opens with an increasing blur effect which tricks the end user into thinking the shutdown process has been started (which happens to me very often), as well as the confirmation button below the decreasing countdown has design flaws that make it not very intuitive.

EXPECTED RESULT
Either the system should start the "Shut Down" process instantly on clicking the button or the "look and feel" widget should be more intuitive in this context.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon unstable edition
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.240
Qt Version: 6.6.0

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I am willing to work on this feature and would love for this feature to be implemented in Plasma 6.

Not a Qt 6 issue; this is just the standard logout confirmation screen that we've had for like 15 years, maybe longer. It asks you if you're sure you want to log out.

If you don't like it, you're welcome to turn it off in System Settings > Session > Desktop Session > uncheck "Show logout screen".
