SUMMARY If you connect to a samba share that has anonymous login enabled, there is no way to manually login into it (e.g. to gain write permissions with a non-anonymous account) without using the system wide setting in Settings -> Networks -> Settings -> Windows Shares - which is very impractical if you want to connect to multiple shares with different credentials smb://user@host does not work either if anonymous login is enabled either. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect to samba share with anonymous login enabled smb://host 2. Try to edit a file without permission, and be unsuccessful 3. Try to login with a username smb://user@host, and be unsuccessful again OBSERVED RESULT KDE continues to use anonymous access to access share EXPECTED RESULT Prompt for username and password to login into share SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0 Qt Version: 5.15.11
