Description eduardelriceam 2023-10-28 00:33:17 UTC
SUMMARY

After watching a video about Activities on KDE, I decided to give it ago, from what I understood they are like different states of desktop, like a different room allowing to focus on that activity, while I could make the panels in each activity hold certain launchers for it, I couldn't make widgets stay on the panel exclusively in that activity, while I could put the widgets on the desktop they are not very useful since most of what I want to use the activity are maximized apps or multiple apps that fill the screen

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create a new activity
2. Add a Widget in the activity Panel

OBSERVED RESULT
The widget stays in all panels for all activities

EXPECTED RESULT
Widgets should remain in the panel of the activity not only on the desktop

Operating System: Kubuntu 22.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Kernel Version: 6.2.0-35-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

Yes, at the moment panel widgets are global, not per-Activity.

Comment 3 Niccolò Venerandi 2024-08-28 12:52:47 UTC
There's currently a major re-think going on about what Activities should be and what they should include. Until there's some result on that side of things, I believe it's best to not add complex feature like this one to the existing system.
