SUMMARY Before the Cube effect being removed from Plasma 5, we could use it as animation when switching virtual desktops. Now we have a new Cube effect, but we cannot use it when switching virtual desktops this time. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. enable Cube effect in Desktop Effects KCM 2. open Virtual Desktops KCM 3. open "Show animation when switching" combobox OBSERVED RESULT "Cube" effect is not available for selection EXPECTED RESULT "Cube" effect is available for selection SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE neon Unstable Edition KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.80 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.240.0 Qt Version: 6.6.0 Graphics Platform: Wayland
Right, that isn't implemented yet.
Seriously? This is like cooking a delicious meal and then not letting anyone eat it. Can't even vote now.
I have the same problem on KDE Neon. Just upvoting the issue.
Honestly, without the ability to use the effect for virtual desktops switching it is just no more than an useless toy.
I have just upgraded to Plasma 6.0 now - I have waited for the release of plasma 6.0 "exclusively" and only to use this feature again I have been very happy/satisfied with plasma 5 for the record Im a bit confused here as to weather this is working by 'intended design' On my Tri-monitor setup when ever i turn on Cube Effect it actually puts ALL Monitors at once simultaneiously into the 'cube effect' Yes, the cube effect does do it's job for the monitor you just had focus on just before you turned the effect on 1: If you then move the mouse pointer to another monitor and hold the right-mouse button down, then moving the mouse around still only moves the cube desktop around on the first initial monitor you were on when you started the effect 2: I do understand how to have my virtual monitors all have a different wallpaper on them I know this can be done with Activities - but it seems that the cube effect has no relationship to Activities In plasma 5 there was some option to assign/attribute virtual desktops and Activities together this feature/function appears to be gone in plasma 6 Q1: Is it possible to extend the Cube effect to Activities as well ? or at the least to *only* effect the current monitor that one was on/using just prior to turning the cube effect on - and leave any/all other monitors alone ? Q: Can i have different wallpapers on the different sides the cube is displaying ?

I would also like to have the cube animation back.
Hi, good work to see that the window effect 3D cube is back. I've tried it but it's lacking multiscreen support. I have two monitors for one desktop, so the plasma desktop is spread over the two screens. Now the 3D cube effect gives a cube per screen, and that's not what I want, and not how it worked. Some years ago the 5 version of this effect just created one cube, like it should. Can you look at it? Keep up the good work.
Stef, please file a new bug report for that issue. Reporting it in an unrelated bug report will just make the issue be forgotten.
