This bug will require a bit of investigation. I will try to get at it asap though. Really... you should configure your certificate correctly. however at least it shook out a possible bug in the code. :)

At least they provide encrypted mail transfer :-)
Subject: Re: inconsistency with ssl certificates for mail download not handled correctly bug cannot be reproduced on kmail 1.4.7 (kde 3.1 beta2), seems to be fixed PLEASE CLOSE BUG thanks for that fix. makes my mail a little more secure and less annoying. that quick fix is another reason for kde being my desktop of choice On Tuesday 24 September 2002 08:08, you wrote: > ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- > You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter. > > http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=47600 > staikos@kde.org changed: > > What |Removed |Added > --------------------------------------------------------------------------- >- Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW > everconfirmed|0 |1 > > > > ------- Additional Comments From staikos@kde.org 2002-09-24 08:08 ------- > This bug will require a bit of investigation. *** Bug has been marked as fixed ***.
This bug should be reopened I think, since I get this error all the time I'm using: KDE 3.5.5 (debian unstable) Kmail 1.9.5 In Kmail I use: "Use TLS for secure mail download" as encryption and "Clear text" as auth method Is there anything else you need from me to reopen it? You can get a screenshot, must wait until the servername differs again, which happens quite alot since I use Media temples grid-server and my domain often switches machine.
Please reopen the bug. It is present in KDE 3.5.2. If there is any way in which I may assist let me know. Thanks.
By the way, I use the same settings as hatt.
Reopening as requested in comment 6 and comment 7
This bug is still around in KMail 1.9.7 (KDE: 3.5.7-0.1.fc7 Fedora). I'm using SSL and clear text password (and dIMAP). The "accept forever" seems to only apply to the current session, or maybe to the current IP address of the server. However, it seems to be forgotten when the server changes IP. Is it so that the "forever" setting only remembers on IP address for a give account? Where is the setting stored? Is it in some kind of table or in a datatype that can only take one value?
I am having the same issue with kmail-3.5.10 on Arch. I have the same settings as the people above, and my server is NOT changing IPs. The certificate is self-signed, and that is the reason Kmail complains. However, no matter how many times I click 'Forever', it pops up again. Maybe I can edit a config file by hand? This is a one-time issue, so I don't mind having a workaround like that until the bug is fixed.
Still present in KDE 4.3.4: Accept forever, restart KDE and you are prompted again. Is there any change getting this fixed at all? :)
I am still experiencing this problem in Kmail 1.13.0, KDE 4.4.0 (Kubuntu).
