STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open the system monitor and keep it running
2. open another process monitor i.e., htop or btop
3. track the CPU usage of plasma-systemmonitor

OBSERVED RESULT
random CPU usage spikes.

EXPECTED RESULT
consistent CPU usage.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This was observed after an upgrade from Kubuntu 23.04 to 23.10
