Wallpaper or desktop glitch following interaction with context menu

SUMMARY

Arch linux, Wayland. AMD gpu.
It's a minor issue but it's been happening to me for over a year.
Sometimes, when I switch between apps or interact with a context menu, the desktop and wallpaper "resize" and think the monitor is 1080p (only on the main monitor)...

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open context menu of an application in system tray (for example Steam or Discord)
2. Immediately click outside of context menu, on wallpaper for example

OBSERVED RESULT
Suddenly desktop / wallpaper is resized to 1920x1080 and goes to the upper left corner

EXPECTED RESULT
Wallpaper and desktop should always use the whole screen.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Archlinux, Wayland, kernel 6.5.6-arch2-1
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0
Qt Version: 5.15.11

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
If I right click on the wallpaper in the corner, I get a context menu, but right click on the background anywhere else does nothing.
I can still use the whole screen, but some apps will only use that upper left corner where the wallpaper is.
To correct I just change resolution and click revert to go back, and everything is fine again until the next time. Happens a few times a day. I can reproduce it but not at will.

Can you re-attach the picture in an open file format? I can't open .heif files.

There you go, sorry the file was too big in any other format for the upload limit.

My main monitor is a Samsung CRG9, 5120x1440, + 1080p tv on the right. I'm mentioning it because I've encountered problems with some apps and games crashing because (as far as I can tell) 5120 > 4096. Setting a resolution width of 4096 or less would fix the issue. I'm fairly sure my monitor's resolution has something to do with this bug as well. Thank you.
Comment 4 Nate Graham 2023-10-23 18:29:52 UTC
Hmm, so if you change your monitor's resolution to be at most 4096 horizontal pixels, the desktop wallpaper glitch stop happening as well?
Comment 5 phil 2023-10-23 18:56:40 UTC
I haven't tested that specifically but that's what I would expect.
But it's just an educated guess.
I don't have this bug on any other computer that I have (many, all linux), but they don't have that monitor.

I can try to reproduce it by connecting the monitor on my laptop, which has never exhibited this problem.
Same config mostly, Arch, Intel, wayland, kde. If reproduced, that would confirm that it's related to the monitor.

I don't know what log or debug file I could pull that would provide more info ?

Let me know what else I can do. Thank you
