A wall of drippy latex with a paw sticking out. Fails to load in Krita 5.1.5

SUMMARY
I cannot open about half of the kra files I've made throughout my lifetime. The error message that I get is as follows:
Could not open /path/to/file.kra.
Reason: Krita does not support this file format.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download the attachment
2. Open it in Krita

OBSERVED RESULT
Could not open /path/to/file.kra.
Reason: Krita does not support this file format.

EXPECTED RESULT
Opened successfully

I thought this only happened to old files at first, but today I made another Krita file and in the evening it failed to open! D:

That's strange because 5.1.5 , 5.2.0 and master can open that file just fine here. Please test with the appimage; if that works, it's a gentoo build issue.

Okay, it does seem to work with the AppImage

That means it's a gentoo build issue -- we cannot solve that.

It works fine on my Gentoo system, jftr.
