Description Evert Vorster 2023-10-14 13:48:55 UTC
SUMMARY
***
Quite often, you do not want Kdenlive to start recording when hitting play.
Currently, the only way to not record is to disable recording totally for the track in Audio Mixer.
It would make more sense to only record when explicitly hitting the record button on the track, and leave the playback button to only play back without starting recording.

This could be a menu option so that people who are used to the current behaviour can still continue using it as-is.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Enable Audio recording for a track.
2. Hit the "Play" Button.

OBSERVED RESULT
Kdenlive starts recording, even though the record button has not been hit.

EXPECTED RESULT
Kdenlive to only record when explicitly told to do so.

I also ran into this issue. It was frustrating having to bounce back and forth, or sometimes I forgot to toggle the recording options, so I had to undo what I did.
