Description rlk 2023-10-08 15:31:02 UTC
SUMMARY
***
When editing a clip using the Transform tool, mostly when moving (translating) a keyframe, sometimes the scaling/translation components of the keyframe get lost and simultaneously all red keyframe dots on the preview vanish. This most commonly happens when using the direct entry boxes in the tool (e. g. horizontal and vertical position). I use the mousewheel to move the frame; while spinning the wheel, I observe all of the keypoints vanish. In case it matters, I always lock aspect ratio.

Undo does not restore them. If I save the project, I observe that there are no keyframes in the translation/scaling list that were inserted prior to them getting lost, but rotation components are there. If I reopen the project, the keyframes show up in the timeline, but the positions are gone. Needless to say, this results in the loss of a lot of work.

If I save the project after every keyframe edit, this does not happen. It otherwise does not happen predictably and there's no specific reproducer case. Perhaps the fact that saving the project constantly suppresses this behavior gives a clue.

Another effect that may or may not be related is that a keyframe added after this will be set to Discrete mode even though I have not to the best of my knowledge requested that.

This happens at least for the last several major versions.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open kdenlive (on a new project)
2. Add a clip
3. Open the Transform effect, and start adding keyframes

OBSERVED RESULT
On occasion, all keyframes vanish

EXPECTED RESULT
Keyframes do not vanis.

Problem with graphics in my monitor.

Does this still occur with any of the 25 releases?
Comment 3 rlk 2025-12-04 15:36:49 UTC
I will have to go back and try. I'm being very careful to save my work frequently. Leaving in WAITINGFORINFO until I have a chance to experiment (may not be for several weeks).
Comment 4 rlk 2025-12-09 00:47:55 UTC
I was not able to reproduce it trying quickly with the current flatpak (25.08.3). If you want, go ahead and close it not reproducible; I'll reopen it if I hit it again.

Thanks. Closing for now.
