SUMMARY Seems to be exactly the same issue that https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=353975 but it says to open a new issue so here it is. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect second monitor OBSERVED RESULT A black overlay prevents any meaningful interaction. - The mouse cursor is there - I can move windows there - I can see my cursor change when I hover the windows, e.g. it becomes a caret if I am hovering a text field so the compositor knows the window is there. But I can't actually see anything If I reboot it works normally. EXPECTED RESULT It works normally if I reboot or not. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux x64 (up-to-date as of 26-09-2023). Plasma shell 5.27.8 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.8-1-1 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.110.0-1.1 Qt Version: 5.15.10+kde+r158-1.1 Running with Wayland EGL API version: 1.5 EGL version string: 1.5 OpenGL core profile version: 4.6 (Core Profile) Mesa 23.1.8-arch1.1.1 OpenGL core profile shading language version: 4.60 OpenGL compatibility profile version: 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 23.1.8-arch1.1.1 OpenGL compatibility profile shading language version: 4.60 OpenGL ES profile version: OpenGL ES 3.2 Mesa 23.1.8-arch1.1.1 OpenGL ES profile shading language version: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.20
Does the problem go away if you restart plasmashell using `systemctl restart --user plasma-plasmashell.service`? If so I suspect the root cause is the same as Bug 467422.
