The issue is caused by the scaling factor set to 0.85. It is possible to reproduce the issue by setting:

set QT_SCALE_FACTOR=0.85

A user on reddit r/krita confirmed that changing the display scaling to >= 80%  in chrome OS helps as a workaround:

I have exactly the same issue, I've reported separate bug today too, please have a look into this so we can use an app again

The display scaling issue is inside Qt, so marking this as upstream since we cannot do anything about it in Krita.
