STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open preferences
2. choose what you want to see in metadat pannel (on right)
3. go back to read metada of a picture

OBSERVED RESULT
nothing change after click ok, all metadata (exif, etc.) are always present

EXPECTED RESULT
only my choice should be present

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Mac min late 2012, ventura with OpenCoreLegacy patcher.
It was the same with, at less, digikam 7 and with macos Monterey and perhaps, I don't remember, with oldre system.

In each metadata tab there is a filter button next to the search, where you have to select custom.

sorry for the false alarm.
so it's not really a bug, but a lack of interface ergonomics.
It's not obvious that you have to make this choice at this point to display the fields you want. 
I thought the choice in the preferences was enough.
and as I'm not really an English speaker... (thanks to DeepL)

This is  users wishes to be able to choose this kind of settings for each metadata view.

OK et merci pour ces réponse très très rapides.
je comprends le choix, mais cette possibilité pourrait aussi apparaitre dans les prefs… je suis tétu ;)
