SUMMARY While using Rectangle Region screenshot with the keyboard shortcut, and having configured Spectacle with: "After taking screenshot" = "Copy image to clipboard", Spectacle should not request for additional actions and/or show the form/screen for saving to file, editing, painting, etc. In any case, if it is considered important to keep this form after the rectangular region screenshot, there could be a new option in Spectacle Configuration, which could say: Do you want to show the actions form/screen after the screenshot? Or it could be one more action inside the "After taking screenshot" dropdown/combobox, which could say > Show "actions" menu. Therefore I think that, if the user has chosen "Copy image to clipboard", then no additional form/screen should appear after selecting the area to screenshot with the mouse. Simply choose the area, and after mouse up, we save the screenshot of the region to the clipboard, just like it happens with Window capture and SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 38 KDE Plasma KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.7 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.109.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10
It sounds like you also want Spectacle to quit after save or copy, so that all you're left with is the screenshot in the clipboard, and no Spectacle window. There's an option for that too.

There's an option for that too. Hi Nate! What do you mean with "There's an option for that too"? You mean a request? Or an option in the configuration alredy existing? If so, could you detail where can I configure that? Greetings!
Click the checkbox for "quit after manual save or copy" in the main window.

No, what I was asking is, when using the configured key shortcut for the Rectangular Region Screenshot, after drawing the rectangle, automatically copy it to the clipboard, without showing any options (Save, Save as, Copy, Export, etc). It is, be able to configure a predefined action for the chosen option (in this case, Rectangular Region). "Quit after manual save or copy" doesn't do this functionality. In summary, the requested behavior / configuration capability, would be the same that Windows 10/11 does.
Oh, that's even easier: just do Meta+Shift+PrintScreen. Once you accept the screenshot, it will copy to the clipboard without showing the main window at all.
Created attachment 161583 [details] attachment-263732-0.html It shows the options (Save, Copy, Export, etc) when the desired behavior is not to show any option but to just make the screenshot :) -------- Original Message -------- On Sep 12, 2023, 18:51, Nate Graham wrote: > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474276 Nate Graham changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution|--- |WORKSFORME Status|REOPENED |RESOLVED --- Comment #5 from Nate Graham --- Oh, that's even easier: just do Meta+Shift+PrintScreen. There is no way to hide the tools while in Rectangular Region mode, and that's not planned as something that will be changing. However you can avoid seeing them in the first place by enabling "Accept on click-and-release" in Spectacle's settings window. Of course then you lose the ability to annotate in Rectangular Region mode.
That's exactly what I was looking for. Click and release configuration. You're welcome!
