SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Neon 5.27
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.109.0
Qt Version: 5.15.10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This seems not to be a KDE problem. 'fwupdmgr get-history' shows my DELL WD19 docking station and reports the Device Flag, "Device update needs activation". However, running 'fwupdmgr activate [GUID|Device ID]', gives the message, "failed to find any device providing [GUID|Device ID]'.
Comment 1 Peter 2023-09-06 22:55:03 UTC
Apologies. USB devices have now started working. However, the fwupdmgr messages are the same.
