Description Heiner 2023-09-06 09:14:02 UTC
SUMMARY
***
When importing a file with the same Filename Digicam renames it to filename_v1.jpg. I did not find an option to disable this.

I need this feature as I have several copies of the same photos and want to merge them. Now I have plenty of _v1 etc and need external tools to delete them and Scripts to rename them back to the original filename.

I am using the Import function to order the photos by date into folders (iso 2023-08-07..)
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download a from Camera or SD Card
2. Download the same file again (maybe from a different SD Card)

OBSERVED RESULT
You will have filename.jpg and filename_v1.jpg

EXPECTED RESULT
I would like to be asked what should happen or have an option to decide. In My case overwriting would save me a lot of time

The import should work as far as possible without supervision, so no dialog asking. You can set your preferred behavior for overwriting files in the digiKam settings under Camera-> Behavior.

Hi Maik,

thank you so much.
As I was importing from different sources I did not check the camera settings, but was expecting it in the advanced import settings, where the general renaming options are as well.

I will give it a try.

Thanks,
Heiner
