Description David 2023-08-11 17:53:26 UTC
SUMMARY
- When I enable onion skins in my animation timeline, it would occasionally create actual lines in some of my layers. So, I’d see red or green lines in some of my layers that I would have to erase.
- My line art is usually black, so I know those lines weren’t created by me.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
- It's difficult to pinpoint the cause as it occurs randomly
- Although, it sometimes occurs when I copy-and-paste layers

OBSERVED RESULT
- One or more of the onion skins will remain after turning off the onion skin feature, and will create actual, erasable lines in the layer(s)

EXPECTED RESULT
- The onion skins should completely disappear when the onion skin button is turned off.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Windows 10 and Krita v5.1.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- I'm running Krita on default settings
- This is a video of the issue from another user, who is also experiencing the same bug: https://twitter.com/i/status/1689512983867629568

Hi, David!

Could you please make any video recording of the issue? It will make it much easier to track this bug down. You can try recording the whole painting session and then just cut the last moments, when the issue happens. If the work is private, you can sent the video to my email privately (dimula73 at gmail dot com).

Hi Dimitry!
Since the issue occurs randomly, it's a difficult to capture what happens before the issue occurs. In the ticket details, however, I provided a link to another Krita v5.1.5 user experiencing the same issue (https://twitter.com/i/status/1689512983867629568). Like me, he's running Krita on default settings.

Hi, David!

Could you please check if this build still contains your bug?

https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Krita_Stable_Windows_Build/

I have fixed a handful of bugs related to onion skins yesterday. Perhaps this bug is also fixed now. Could you also ping that person from twitter about that?

Hi Dimitry,

I have good news! Neither myself or the user on Twitter has encountered the issue. In fact, 5.2 (despite being in beta) is actually performing better than 5.1 (knock on wood). Thank you again for your help!
