Would like to see more flexibility on the side bars like define the size of the icons, turn the labels to horisontal and autohide.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

OBSERVED RESULT
Panels always visible and labels vertical

EXPECTED RESULT
Adding auto hide, choose icon size and turn text to horizontal

Horizontal labels in the sidebar, seriously? How much space is that wasting?

If your icons are too small and you are using a 4K screen with scaling factor, enable the option to scale to screen factor in digiKam Settings-> Miscellaneous-> System. Also enable HiDPI Icons.
