SUMMARY I am using x2go to access a remote machine. X2go causes /var/log/syslog to fill up with the exact same message, several thousand lines per second: plasmashell[<number>]: Warning: found huge icon. The icon data may be ill-encoded. (-1 x -1) which makes it hard to scan the file and find actually important information. I am not quite sure why this is logged at all, but it certainly should not be logged to that extend. OBSERVED RESULT Log fills up with that not very informative warning. EXPECTED RESULT Do not log more than once per second at least. Even better, do not log at all or allow easy configuration. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 12 KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.107.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10 Kernel Version: 6.3.0-2-amd64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics Memory: 31,2 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU/PCIe/SSE2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION x2goclient (4.1.2.2-2)
The solution is to fix the log spam, not to suppress or limit it. We don't even really have a feasible way of doing that anyway. Can you submit a new bug report describing the actual issue itself in enough detail that we can investigate it? Thanks! For my own future reference when you do so: the error message comes from KWindowSystem.
