Created attachment 160648 [details] Kate messages via console STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. External harddrive with about 30,000 files, about 400 GB, a small bash file (.sh) 2. Start Kate via desktop icon (left side favorites) 3. Open the small bash file (with mv-commands to backup files) in Kate OBSERVED RESULT Files opens, but the "working" icon is shown very, very, very long, and you can nothing do in the meantime. If you save the opened file in a session, close Kate and open Kate again via console you get a lot of messages, see attachment. EXPECTED RESULT Open the file and voila. No delays, not message, no errors (if). SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Betriebssystem: openSUSE Leap 15.5 KDE-Plasma-Version: 5.27.4 KDE-Frameworks-Version: 5.103.0 Qt-Version: 5.15.8 Kernel-Version: 5.14.21-150500.55.7-default (64-bit) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I installed Kwrite additionally to see if there are an identical problems, but it's not. Before I had installed Kwrite Kate won't even start via the desktop icon anymore after I had closed it due to the observed effects.
That it the thumbnailer used by the kio widget we use for the left side bar directory view.
I think there can at the moment be nothing done beside that you disable the file browser plugin.
