STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start Kstars from desktop icon by double clicking it.
2. Immediately select the search Icon from the main menu bar (3rd icon from the left)
3.

OBSERVED RESULT
Kstars immediately closes with no warnings. This does not always happen however and I cannot pre-determine when it will crash. You can repeat above procedure again once or several times more until search works with no crash.

EXPECTED RESULT
Display the search Dialog

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Attached is the kstars log file when kstars crashes. When it does not crash the log file has an additional DEBG line: 0 StarBlocks freed from StarBlockFactory at the end of the log file.
Starting Kstars immediately followed by a search must be a common user action.
