SUMMARY *** I noticed that KDE plasma includes it's own qt based virtual keyboard however it only works on SDDM. Is there anyway to make this keyboard accessible on the desktop like any other virtual keyboard and make it the default option? Currently if you install a KDE plasma distro you either have to hope your distro maintainers included a virtual keyboard package or you have to manually find and download one yourself. This is inconvenient for tablet PC users who want their system to work out of the box. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Go to 'System Settings' 2. Go to 'Input Devices' 3. Go to 'Virtual Keyboard' OBSERVED RESULT There is no default virtual keyboard unless your distro maintainers preinstalled a package. EXPECTED RESULT There should be a default virtual keyboard option for users who do not wish/don't know how to install third party virtual keyboard packages. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.108.0 Qt Version: 5.15.10
> This is inconvenient for tablet PC users who want their system to work out of the box. I sympathize, but this is just the state of our world: If you want a distro where things are expected to work out of the box without manual configuration, you need to go out of your way to seek one out and use it. We try to make our Neon distro be an example of one.
