STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Settings | Configure Digikam | Image Editor | RAW Default Settings | Auto Brightness
2. Raw Behaviour set to Using the default Settings, in 16 bit
3. Uncheck Auto Brightness
4. OK
5. Load RAW file
6. Repeat, turning Auto Brightness back on
7. Load RAW file

OBSERVED RESULT

Before turning Auto Brightness off, loading a RAW file in the editor adjusts the brightness as expected.

After turning Auto Brightness off, a dull RAW image is loaded with a narrow spectrum as expected

After turning it back on, there is no change i.e. the brightness adjustment does not take place.

EXPECTED RESULT

I can't reproduce the problem here on Windows 10 with my NEF files either. Note that these settings only apply to the image editor, not to the image preview. Image preview is always run with auto brightness, we have a bug report to make this configurable.

Two things to note, the change will only be applied the next time the image is loaded, not to the image just loaded.
And when you call up the image editor again, you will only see the "old" image until the new one has been loaded.

@IvorJ,

This problem still reproducible with the new digiKam 8.2.0 pre-release Windows
installer available at usual place:

https://files.kde.org/digikam/

This new bundle is based on last Qt framework 5.15.11 and KDE framework 5.110.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

The 8.7.0 pre-release Windows installer from today have been rebuilt from
scratch with Qt 6.8.3, KDE 6.12, OpenCV 4.11 + CUDA support, Exiv2 0.28.5, ExifTool 13.27, ffmpeg 7, all image codecs updated to last version (jxl, avif, heif, aom, etc.).

Please try with this version to see if your problem still reproducible...

Thanks in advance
Best regards
