Similar issue here when connecting the laptop to an external screen including automatic switching audio from internal to HDMI.
All applications are killed and there is a blank session with just the crash reporter running.

I'd just like to be a little more precise: The crash occurs after connecting an external screen while the session is locked or the laptop is in standby mode, when unlocking (after resuming). It is not always akonadi crashing, sometimes it is also kwayland.
