I will try to provide better crash report.
Please consider this bad situation in Neon Unstable for person who want to help and report crash any application/system. The basic issue here is that DrKonqi doesn't work, so cannot report easy any crash, and cannot install easy any debug symbols.
Second thing is that Disvover doesn't update the system (I do this by pkcon) and is not possible to install any dbgsym packages, so this application seems to be useless now.
I need to find dbgsym packages manually and install them also manually. When I try to do this by synaptic then in moment when I click checkbox next to package synaptic crashes.

But, sorry, did you try to reproduce the issue? For example in case of synaptic (this is gtk+ app.)?

Recently I often meet this in two applications: synaptic and Opera
How to simple reproduce.
1. Synaptic
Additionally start konsole, firefox, dolphin
In Synaptic find "xfce4" and click checkbox on the list for any found package
In result Plasma crashed/restarted. Worth to note that konsole still working, but firefox windows are closed. Dolphin is working, but in result of clicking onto any entry on the list happens nothing. Restart of Dophin helps.

2. Opera.
Click into minimize button causes crash/restart of Plasma
Click into "+" (new card) button causes crash/restart of Plasma
Over the mouse on some "dynamic" item (but not url) on the site causes crash/restart of Plasma
Right click into edit field on the side causes crash/restart of Plasma

Please notice that in moment of crash drkonqi is not raised.

Qt Version: 6.6 beta2

We still need a backtrace of the crash that includes debug symbols.

OK. I reproduced issue with synaptic, so clicked into checkbox on the list of packages. DrKonqi didn't act, plasma crashed immediately.
In result in directory pointed by path: /var/lib/systemd/coredump I found big file compressed by zst to ~10MB. Below please find extracted and compressed file info.

-rw-r--r-- 1 piotr piotr 474M sie 23 01:09 core.kwin_wayland.1000.f39a2fa375594811a734dc27231663f8.1109.1692745773000000
-rw-r--r-- 1 piotr piotr 9,6M sie 23 01:09 core.kwin_wayland.1000.f39a2fa375594811a734dc27231663f8.1109.1692745773000000.zst

I split zst file into 3 parts (due to 4MB limit) and attached here, so please concatenate the parts again and extract.

BTW. Crash happens also if I click into any option in menu present in top bar.
I can do the same test with Opera if this is necessary.

Test for synaptic in version 0.90.2
$ apt list synaptic
Listing... Done
synaptic/jammy,now 0.90.2build1 amd64 [installed]

Don't need the whole core, just a text backtrace of the crash. See the link posted in Comment 2.

Sorry, is there anybody who is able to reproduce this issue?
I face with this any time when I only want to use synaptic or vlc or Opera (one accidentally click and all session crashed). This doesn't happen in X11 session. I tested in xfce4.

Maybe this problem happens only in Neon Unstable Edition, but in Fedora all works well. I'm not able to test this in Fedora.
Comment 16 Nate Graham 2023-11-16 20:24:24 UTC
No, apparently not. We still need you to attach a backtrace of the crash.
